"Your Winsock configuration has been modified..." error

Symptoms

The NetDetour system tray icon appears gray, indicating that NetDetour is disabled. When attempting to enable the program, you receive the following message:

Your Winsock configuration has been modified in a way that makes it incompatible with NetDetour. Reinstall NetDetour.

Cause

The Winsock configuration has been altered in a way that makes it incompatible with NetDetour, potentially due to other software on your system.

Solution

1. Reinstall NetDetour:
   • Reinstalling NetDetour should restore compatibility.
2. Identify and address conflicting programs:
   • If the issue persists after reinstalling, another program, such as a different proxification tool or antivirus software, may be monitoring and altering the Winsock configuration.
   • Identify the conflicting program, then either reconfigure it to prevent changes to Winsock or uninstall it.
